What are we doing at the retreat and why "Bootism™"?

In a nutshell, here's what we're working on at the 2 day retreat: YOU. Your space, your energy management, your beliefs and wants, your own form of "Bootism", and how all of it supports you in being a better leader and creating better results and impact in your business and on your team.

The work I do with people I've started to call "Bootism" because it's very holistic and incorporates a lot of "Eastern Philosophy" meets "Western Business Philosophy" with a touch of "Boots, 12 Hugs and Cupcakes" as the "special sauce" that helps hold it all together and gives it more energy and sustainability. I do this work very differently than traditional "coaching and training," and I'm a jeans and boots gal, and my clients know me as such, so the name just seemed to fit. Much more to say here, and you'll get it at the retreat, as well as what your own form of Bootism looks like for you.

Why is this important? It seems like the "soft stuff"?

Of course it does! If I had a dollar for everytime I heard that, I'd have my own Boot Barn (lined with cupcakes and smelling of really good coffee and fennel, with really great comfy chairs, and --- oh! Back to business --- ) Ironically what is often referred to as the "soft stuff" is the most important "stuff" there is in leadership. See, without addressing "you as leader" - who you are, how you show up, who you "be", your presence, your energy, all of that, no matter how successful you may be, you're missing a potentially huge opportunity to create more impact with people, to be more compelling and aligned, to be super congruent in your decisions, to "get what you want", to get your employees more engaged (engagement is all about the "soft stuff", btw), and ultimately, when it gets right down to it, to create more time, energy, positive impact, and profitability in your life. (Let's cut to the chase shall we?)

I believe it's all about creating internal peace, joy and good energy (that's the Eastern side of things) AND better business results, impact, and profit (the Western side of things) so that we can make the greatest contributions and lead well. We need BOTH to be fully engaged and sustainable. So when I do this work, we address all of it. The retreat is focused on YOU and bringing this East meets West idea to your leadership and "way of being" in a way that is congruent for you.

Another way of looking at it is this: In order to be the most effective, engaged, energized leader possible, it's important to keep doing your own internal "work". No one can do it for you. The answers aren't out "there," your internal resources are phenomenal, but are you setting yourself up to access them optimally? And are you setting yourself up optimally to be heard and impactful? When you are clear, conscious, take good care of yourself, are aware of your impact, manage your energy, and lead - you can create better tangible results in your business and life. Period. It's tough to find the space to do this with so many competing demands and interruptions. Hence the retreat.

What are the key areas of focus at the retreat?

This retreat is a chance to bring your "boots, 12 hugs and cupcakes" into your life and leadership in a deeper way. Unlike other more traditional business retreats where you spend a day or two working on your vision, strategic plans, your numbers, and all things on your business, these two days will be spent working on YOU, as a congruent, engaged and energized leader, in your business.

Learning the Bootist Model and having two 2 days to learn, reflect and focus on you as leader IN your life, will support you in doing your own internal work so that you are even better and clearer to do the external work. From here, you can also more easily get your team more engaged in the external work (because you're "clearer" and your presence and energy are more enrolling), and to ultimately create more happiness and better results in your business.

Some of the outcomes you can expect from doing this kind of work include being able to:

  • Increase your leadership capacity, and ability to create impact,
  • Lead and manage your energy more effectively,
  • Communicate more effectively with employees,
  • Create a more compelling and inviting leadership presence (so people want to work harder for you and engage more),
  • Make cleaner and clearer decisions,
  • Increase engagement on multiple levels,
  • Drive stronger and more congruent strategic plans, numbers, and all things business,
  • Increase the joy, reward, and impact factor in your life.

I consistently find, for myself and my clients, that the more you're aware of and working your own inner game, leading from the "inside out" (looking internally vs. looking externally for the answers, validation, and leadership), the better your external results can be. The "higher up" you get in your role and leadership responsibilities, the more important it is to be able to manage your energy, impact, and space, and "do the work."

Some of the things we'll be exploring to support you in this are:

  • How you engage people around you,
  • What your presence is,
  • What YOU want,
  • What your true style is,
  • How you manage your energy,
  • What kind of energy you create,
  • What "drives" you in leadership,
  • How you view the world (the lens you look through),
  • How you make decisions that are congruent with your values and presence.

Lots of good stuff. If this resonates for you, even slightly, as something you want to be paying attention to, don't miss it. I've secured a couple of really special things to help make this experience even more powerful, and the sooner you book, the sooner we can secure your spot and get to work on making this your event.

You can download everything you need to know about the event and the registration form right here.  By the way, if you register today or over the weekend, just email it (info@daretoengage.com) or fax it in (877-994-3273) and we'll take care of it on Monday.
