Meet Anese

What would you say if I told you that taking on just one important "dare" could change the course of your life?

What would you say if I told you that doing just little "dares" everyday could create a shift in your impact that would make the difference between being a good manager and a great leader?

What would you say if I told you that the food you eat, and the exercise and rest you get, are having an impact on your ability to be the most effective leader you can be?

What would you say if I told you that just the simple act of getting really present to what is happening in the moment could completely change your experience of that moment?

Would you want to know more? Would you want to play? It's true...these are things that I find everyday and things that I love to play with in my work with clients.

Anese Cavanaugh I believe that coming to our lives fully engaged makes all the difference in the world. I believe that we can create impact in a moment by the way we show up...at work; with our teams, colleagues, and clients, and at home; with our partners and kids. I believe that being fully engaged is contagious, and that when we are, we call others to be as well. And I believe that a little dare can go a long way in helping us step our of comfort zones that hold us back from creating the lives, relationships and results we really really want. I believe that we can all be heroes in our own lives and that being a hero is often about being willing to dare to step out of comfort zones, in service of another person or the greater good, in the context of our lives. I believe that "daring to engage" is not a one time thing; it's a lifestyle and something that can serve you and those you love and lead for many years to come.

Yours in the dare,

Anese Cavanaugh

Background

Anese Cavanaugh created Active Choices, Inc. in 2002, a coaching and training group that specializes in creating sustainable leadership by helping organizations and leaders develop their leadership while maximizing their health and productivity. It was out of her work of 17 years with clients, focused on leadership development, performance improvement and health & productivity, that Dare to Engage was born; programs intensely focused on helping leaders become more fully engaged and effective, while practicing extreme self-care, improving their relationships, creating systems that work, and increasing their courage, vitality and personal sustainability.

With a heartfelt hunger and commitment for full engagement and full aliveness, she made the mission of the Dare To Engage Programs to help leaders become heroes at work AND at home (and for themselves!) by integrating the power of fully engaging in their health, energy, relationships and authentic leadership styles, while stepping out of comfort zones, to create the results they really want in their lives and leadership. Purposefully offered via private coaching, workshops and Master Mind Circles, these programs have something for everyone and will meet you wherever you are at in your life and leadership "dares."

Before starting her own company, Anese worked in Corporate America in various leadership and consulting positions centered around health and productivity, wellness, leadership and performance improvement for companies such as Chevron Corporation and Swedish American Health System (Dr. Dean Ornish's Heart Disease Reversal Program.) Now Anese provides coaching and training to executives and employees in Fortune 500 organizations, small businesses, and private consultancy firms, who’s identities are withheld to honor client confidentiality. If you would like to learn more about this work or the kinds of clients she works with, you can speak with her directly.

Why I do what I do...

I love what I do. I've been working with people to help them look better, feel better, lead better and be better for 17 years. My stand is for full engagement and living life fully awake. I also take a stand for the impact we have on others, authenticity, and our ability to choose our impact, whether it be at work or at home. Finally, I am "unlidded-ly" passionate about the impact our bodies and energy levels have on our ability to get things done, relate to others, play and create the impact we want in this world.

"Anese has a huge heart and a lot of passion. You can feel her hunger for you to achieve and live your hunger and it makes you want it even more. Even better, you start to see and believe the possibilities." - Client

I love seeing my clients step out of their comfort zones and into their dares in service of becoming more effective and aware - and I love seeing the impact it has on their direct reports, their spouses and their kids. It all relates...and what I love the most of all is that it is contagious, it seems to have a snowball effect, where the more attention, energy and focus they give to one shift, creates greater shifts in other parts of their lives, sometimes totally unexpected. It is delicious work for me to be with my clients in that space and to witness them in their challenges and wins as they learn and stretch and grow and celebrate. And a side effect to all of that is knowing that ripple effects are being created because my clients are brave enough to create the changes and results they want and need in their lives and leadership to move their visions forward.

I've seen the power of daring to engage, in my own life and in the lives of my clients. I've seen the power of stepping into something when you were scared and had no idea how you were going to do it...and then succeeded. Or failed, and recovered...and then failed, and recovered...each time getting stronger, more resilient and more expansive in your ability to lead and create impact.

My love for this work builds and builds...and when my children tell me they think that "daring to engage means taking really good care of yourself so you can be good at what you do and be helpful and then still have enough time and energy to play with your kids" I feel like I've hit a home run.

The daring individuals I work best with...

  • Are eager, and even hungry, to create change in their lives and/or impact
  • Value their personal and family life (and want to feel more "balanced")
  • Know that "leadership" is not just about them doing a better job, it's bigger than that
  • Want to be a hero at work and at home and are willing to do whatever it takes to do so
  • Understand how my digging and "Loving Daring" process translates into greater value for them
  • Want to get the most out of our work together, so they are willing to lean in and do the work (and play!)
  • Are highly committed to their own success
